No more oil leak!! Check level when hot or cold?

OK, I tightened everything up two nights ago and replaced the oil. Took 2 short rides and went out for an hour last night--no leak this morning 8-). I don't have the owner's manual and the shop manual I have does not say if the oil should be checked when warm or cold. I could only find notes on changing oil when warm and to start the engine for a while then check the view window? When warm, the level is perfect--am I on the right "missing" page?
